Our Recommended Merchants To Buy Panerai Luminor Collection
By 1949, a patent was granted for Panerai Luminor, the luminous substance based on tritium as it continued to develop their time pieces and come up with inventive new designs.
As 1956 rolls around, Panerai takes a large step up in the naval watch
making arena. On the request of the Egyptian Navy, Panerai created a
large Radiomir watch
with an Angelus movement. This stunning time piece has an eight day
power reserve and 5-minute intervals to calculate immersion times.
Panerai also made a limited production run of approximately thirty
pieces each for other Mediterranean Navies.
By 1993, a numbered series in a limited edition of models aimed at the civilian market is created: Luminor, Luminor Marina, and an edition of the Mare Nostrum chronograph.
Panerai watches
continued to grow in popularity throughout the 1990s, and in 1995 actor
Sylvester Stallone requested a special edition (bearing his signature
on the back) to be made of the Submersible. This watch is called the Slytech Daylight.
1998 sees the
arrival of the first Panerai watches with automatic mechanical
movements: the Panerai Luminor Submersible professional diver's watch,
the Luminor GMT with a second time zone indication, and the Luminor
Power Reserve with a function of high quality watch-making which
enables the power reserve to be read.
Panerai Submersible Collection
The
next major development in the Panerai range is the Luminor Submersible
1000 metres, a professional diver's instrument designed according to
the NIHS (Normes de l'Industrie Horlogère Suisse) specifications.
This
highly collectable timepiece comes equipped with a helium valve
necessary for decompression, and the sapphire crystal has a thickness
of 5.1 mm and the steel back is 3 mm thick.
Finally,
in 2004 the Radiomir collection is enhanced by the 8 Days model. The
case is 45 millimetres in diameter and is fitted with the patented slim
wire loop strap attachments and a round case-band, while the screwed
back and crown ensure water-resistance to 100 metres.
So if you are looking for a historic Panerai watch, then the Panerai Luminor Base, Luminor Marina, or Radiomir would be the perfect choice.
However, a if you are looking for a more contemporary design, then the Luminor Marina Automatic, Luminor Submersible, Luminor GMT, Luminor Power Reserve, Luminor Chrono, or the Radiomir GMT/alarm would be well worth your consideration.
But
as every collector knows, if you are only picking one model of watch
from a brand to add to your collection, then nothing can beat one of
the special edition timepieces.
If
this is the situation you find yourself in then you have a wide choice
as Panerai watches have special editions watches running from 1997 to
2004.
